Change is in the Air
Autumn is upon us and we thought it might be fun to look at what this means. Here are 6 reasons why this season is an exciting time of the year.
1. New Beginnings
There is something exhilarating in the fresh autumn air after the heat of summer- maybe it is because change is in the air? Autumn reminds us that our body, mind, soul and the universe is always developing. It focuses on the transience of life, accentuating how important it is to live in the present, knowing that every day is a new beginning. When we truly live in the moment we can really appreciate what we do have before it goes (or evolves into something new).
2. Preservation
Autumn symbolises the preservation of life. During this season, animals prepare for the winter by storing food for hibernation and creating cosy spaces to spend their winter. We also tend to retreat indoors and focus on nurturing a safe and comforting home. This season offers us a chance to reconnect with ourselves as we create our sanctuaries for the winter.
3. Cosiness & Comfort
Comfort is a strong essence of autumn. This season is all about seeking comfort as the nights get cooler. Creating a serene and snuggly space is one of the best parts of autumn and it also gives you a chance to reflect and explore what it is that gives you a feeling of warmth and safety.
4. Protection
As summer transforms into autumn, we exercise self-protection by wearing layers and rugging up. We also tend to focus on our health by boosting our immunity through new habits and better choices, the summer festive season has been and gone. This season is the perfect opportunity to practice heightened awareness of yourself and your surroundings. As the temperature starts to drop we also make less excuses about it being too hot to get out and exercise, so now is the perfect time to get moving!
5. Balance
Did you know that day and night are the same length during the autumn equinox? Some believe this to be a representation of balance! This is the perfect time for you to check in with yourself and tune into what areas of your life may be out of balance.
6. Letting go
As leaves start to fall and the planet experiences its own process of regeneration, autumn illuminates the beauty of letting go. As we go through Autumn we are able to understand that everything in life has a cycle, and this makes it an exciting time to let go of the old things that are no longer serving us and to start looking at the world with fresh eyes.
So what does Autumn mean for you? Maybe it is time to start that exercise routine, or it’s simply a time to start nurturing yourself a little bit more? Or is it time for you to let go of something that is no longer serving you? We would love to hear what has come up for you!
